How software clustering works

SafeKit is a software product running on two Windows, Linux, AIX or Solaris servers which ensures 24x7 business continuity and no data loss with a 100% software cluster.

SafeKit bundles load balancing, real-time file replication and automatic fail-over in a single software solution. It removes the need for costly SAN shared disks or appliances and can be implemented on your existing Windows, Linux or Unix systems.

Types of cluster

With SafeKit, you can create two types of software cluster:

  • Application clusters, where SafeKit replicates applications and/or databases, monitors them and automatically restarts them in case of failure
  • Virtual server clusters, where SafeKit replicates complete virtual servers(OS + applications + data), monitors the virtual servers and automatically restarts them in case of failure

The choice between the two approaches depends on your applications and environment. Follow this link to learn more  >>

Application modules

SafeKit modules help you get your clustering solution working quicky. Each module includes a set of configuration file templates and scripts needing only simple parametrization, such as the server IP addresses, at installation time.

A SafeKit mono-module solution is appropriate if you need to deploy high availability for just one application, database, or virtual server. In this case, you can install, run and toggle a single module on the cluster. Two types of mono-module architecture are available:

If you need to deploy high availability for several applications on the same cluster of servers, SafeKit also supports multi-module architectures. Several applications or virtual servers can then run concurrently with high availability on the same cluster. In this case, you can install several modules and start and toggle them individually.

Multi-module architectures include:
